Housing 111K: The Zen Fusion between Architecture and Mediterranean Landscape
On the Costa Blanca, nestled in the Cumbres del Sol in Benitachell (Alicante), the 111K House represents modern Mediterranean architecture.
Located between Jávea and Moraira, its southwest orientation frames a canvas of panoramic views towards the Mediterranean, from the bay of Calpe to the Peñón de Ifach.
The house is built into the hillside; it is not obstructed. Its architecture is defined by a horizontal plane along the natural slope of the site, dividing the house’s organization into three levels.
The compositional concept of this residence is articulated through these three exterior volumes, whose lightness and horizontality are accentuated by a pronounced overhang and the application of travertine porcelain. This material extends coherently from the exterior to the interior, establishing a visual rhythm that engages with the surrounding environment.
The carefully selected set of materials defines the aesthetics and functionality of the project, thus achieving a subtle integration between the construction and the landscape.
Travertine stone covers the vertical surfaces, giving the house a substantial presence on the ground, while oak wood is used to introduce warmth in mills, cladding, and furniture. The limited material palette becomes the framework for the spatial experience.
Inside, the warmth of oak is evident in the kitchen, living room furniture and the rooms, while travertine stone covers the facades and is introduced into the interior spaces in similar tones.
The woodwork, in a neutral color palette, reinforces this aesthetic continuity. The Mediterranean-inspired furniture not only lends a distinctive character but also instills a sense of home and warmth, essential to the studio’s philosophy.
The open-plan kitchen layout, with its central island, blends seamlessly with the dining room and living room.
A generous glass wall extends these spaces towards the porch, creating a spatial fluidity that invites outdoor living.
The continuous porcelain tile flooring, from the interior to the pool’s edge, amplifies the perception of spaciousness. This creates a unified visual experience, merging the interior spaces with the uninterrupted views of the sea and the horizon.
The porch serves as a versatile outdoor space with an integrated barbecue area, seamlessly extending domestic life into the outdoors. This area leads to the outdoor kitchen, maintaining a consistent material aesthetic while simultaneously inviting outdoor living.
The 111K House is structured on three floors designed to optimize functionality and the living experience, with two strategic access points.
The 111K House is structured on three floors designed to optimize functionality and the living experience, with two strategic access points.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms with access to a private terrace, designed as a sleeping area.
A third bedroom on the ground floor, with direct access to the pool, offers versatility and immediate connection to outdoor leisure.
The addition of an elevator guarantees full accessibility, responding to the needs of comfort and mobility.
The main design objective in the 111K House located in the province of Alicante, is the creation of open and coherent spaces, defined by clean exterior lines and a configuration of volumes that facilitates the convergence between the interior and the exterior.
The result is a tranquil and integrated space, architecture and interior design that is inextricably linked to the surrounding Mediterranean landscape.
