Casa Llinás: The timeless essence of Mediterranean architecture
Located in Moraira (Alicante), Casa Llinás stands as an exercise in architectural synthesis. Conceived with calm and geometric clarity, the house is articulated through bold volumes that open towards the landscape, combining solidity and lightness in a single gesture. Its relationship with the surroundings is not established through monumentality, but through serenity: horizontal and vertical planes that create thresholds, shadows, and transitional spaces, in dialogue with the garden and the pool.
The project embraces timelessness and an architecture that feels like a refuge. The layout of the rooms reflects a desire for privacy, while the use of large glazed surfaces ensures a seamless connection with the outdoors. The result is a home that is rooted in the Mediterranean landscape and, at the same time, opens up to the light, balancing privacy and openness, intimacy and spaciousness.
The materiality of Casa Llinás is characterized by its subtle and organic heterogeneity. The walls in sand tones and light stone create a warm and serene presence, evoking the texture of the Alicante coast.
In contrast to the starkness of these plans, the glazed enclosures provide transparency and lightness, allowing natural light to modulate the rooms throughout the day.
The contrast is achieved with walnut wood, present in large panels that integrate and organize spaces such as the kitchen and entrance. This combination conveys a warm, handcrafted, and Mediterranean character.
The color palette is completed with earth tones and warm shades, reinforcing the feeling of natural balance.
Textiles and furniture in neutral tones create a harmonious color scheme, while dark details in lighting fixtures and woodwork introduce a subtle counterpoint that accentuates the architectural lines. More than contrast, it’s a balance between warmth and sobriety that defines the project’s identity.
The furniture incorporates references to wabi-sabi and the Japandi style: pieces with clean lines and finishes that celebrate imperfection, wear, and essentiality. The overall effect exudes serenity, a sense of unhurried and mindful living.
The interior of Casa Llinás is organized around functional clarity and spatial continuity. The living room, conceived as a gathering space, opens onto the terrace and pool, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors. The kitchen and dining room, arranged sequentially, reinforce this idea of shared living, where everyday spaces take center stage.
The interior spaces reveal moments of pause and contemplation: a hallway illuminated by a large window, an intimate patio that brings nature into the heart of the home, a reading nook bathed in afternoon light. Each room is designed to encourage mindful living, where the architecture not only organizes but also accompanies and frames daily life.
Casa Llinás presents itself as a project of sculptural essence and profound livability. An architecture grounded in geometric purity, the serenity of its tones, and an intimate relationship with light. Ultimately, a timeless refuge on the Costa Blanca.
